Ordinance Reminders

MOWING: 50.14 NOXIOUS WEEDS, TALL GRASS, WILD VINES AND WILD BUSHES: It shall be unlawful for the owner or person in possession or control of any land within the City to maintain, cause or permit a nuisance. A nuisance is defined as noxious weeds, grass exceeding ten (10) inches in height, and wild vines or wild bushes.

STREETS: 135.05 PLACING DEBRIS ON: It is unlawful to blow grass or other debris in the streets when mowing. The grass would likely to be washed into the storm sewer and cause clogging.

135.08 BURNING PROHIBITED: No person shall burn trash, leaves, rubbish or other combustible material in any curb and gutter or on any paved or surfaced street or alley.

ANIMALS: 57.01: ANNUAL LICENSE REQUIRED: Every owner shall procure a dog license for a dog over the age of four (4) months from the Clerk on or before the first day of January of each year.

55.06: AT LARGE PROHIBITED: It is unlawful for any owner to allow an animal to run at large within the corporate limits of the City.

55.08 ANNOYANCE OR DISTURBANCE: It is unlawful for the owner of a dog to allow or permit such dog to cause serious annoyance or disturbance to any person by frequent and habitual howling, yelping, barking, or otherwise; or, by running after or chasing persons, bicycles, automobiles, or other vehicles.

TREES: 151.03 DUTY TO TRIM TREES: The owner for agent of the abutting property shall keep the trees on, or overhanging the street, trimmed so that all branches will be at least fifteen (15) feet above the surface of the street and eight (8) feet above the sidewalks.

MINORS: 46.01 CURFEW: The Council has determined that a curfew for minors is necessary to promote the public health, safety, morals and general welfare of the city. Time Limits: A. Under Age 16. It is unlawful for any minor under the age of 16 to be or remain upon any of the alleys, streets or public places of business and amusement in the city between the hours of 10:30 p.m. and 5:00 a.m. of the following day. There are exceptions to these curfew regulations. B. Ages 16 and 17. It is unlawful for any minor under the age of 16 to be or remain upon any of the alleys, streets or public places of business and amusement in the city between the hours of 11:30 p.m. and 5:00 a.m. of the following day. There are exceptions to these curfew regulations.
